April Fool
For April Fools' Day (and his one year anniversary), Miles took off for a whirlwind trip around Vineyard Square. Brad and I were grilling (faux)brats and onions and just as we were about to eat, Miles escaped out the back and I chased after him in my bare feet. After 30 minutes of desperate searching and occasional glimpses of a crazed smirking dog (and some spotting help from neighborhood children), Brad picked up the very exhausted and slightly injured pup and returned him...then he started pacing all around the house and eventually we realized he was leaving bloody paw prints all over. I think he got a little slice in the pad of his back right paw during the run. I bandaged it and put a sock over the bandage and then secured that with packing tape (which is depicted in the photo below). I called the vet today and asked about treatment and basically we are going to keep it clean and keep an eye on it. He is putting weight on his paw and doesn't seemed to be bothered by it at all... That's the end of that, we hope. One more reason to get that dog trainer over to the house...one of these days.
It all reminds me a of a joke a 2 year old told Ellen...or maybe a 2 year old's Dad told Ellen:
"Did you hear the one about the three legged dog who walked in to a saloon? He was looking for the man who shot his paw." He also told a dirty joke about Santa but I won't repeat it here.
