Middle of December
It has been a while since I actually posted text to my blog. In fact, it has been a while since I actually wrote a paragraph in any situation. These days my writing is full of bullets and ISBNs and typos that are caught by the spell checker.
So what news do I have to report? Well, not much since Ellen and I have been spending too much time watching TV shows on DVD and DVR. We had another Veronica Mars marathon. Brad and Stef came over with the British version of The Office and we watched a bit of the 2nd season (I forgot how racy it can get). We did get out of the house to see The Squid and the Whale which takes place in Park Slope, Brooklyn in the '80s. It brought back memories of being 8 or so and visiting my parents' friends in Brooklyn where we ate baba ganoush and humous for the first time. I think I also got to try kiefer... This is the same family that took us to Pig Heaven after a trip to the Met (?). All I can remember about the restaurant is that it had squid on meat hooks in the kitchen or fridge or something. Speaking of squid, the movie was good and funny in that uncomfortable family drama kind of way.
In other news, the Mano Mano Laboratories site opened for business. Need hand printed cards? Of course you do. We've got em!
Oh, which reminds me of the sad/happy news that Valex (aka the Cupcakes) are moving on to Middletown, CT. This doesn't mean that Mano screen printing will end...we may require an additional Gocco and/or a couple of additional trips to New England.
One of my excuses for neglecting my blog is that I have been working on archiving our old photos on flickr. I am planning to increase my photo output with my new Nikon D50 purchased with the advice of Alex (who suggested I actually HOLD various cameras and when I did that the Nikon just felt right). Right now if you check out my flickr page, you will see that my main model is Miles who is very patient as I fiddle with the camera and learn how to use an SLR again. I hope to master the controls before arriving for Christmas in Maine next week!
