Soho

Dog shirt at American Apparel. Lots of dogs in Soho... While Ellen was at her "how to teach better" workshop, I went downtown. First, I went to Pearl Paint which is 4 floors of art supply heaven in Chinatown. I got to hear an employee describe in detail about how to do real screen printing which involves lots of supplies and takes at least two days, etc. I bought some more Riso ink for the Gocco project. I then headed into Soho to explore some more. The Housing Works UsedBookCafe was having a book/CD/clothes sale out in the street. You would think New Yorkers had never seen $1 books before...they are crazy for sales. I bought a promo of a Grey DeLisle CD for $3.80 and it isn't officially out until next week! I checked out some fancy furniture stores and hung out at Space Untitled Cafe before meeting Ellen at Hampton Chutney Company for more dosa action. Ellen had to choose between museums and shopping for her half day off and she chose shopping. We went to many, many stores. Ellen ended up getting a fancy sheer skirt at Barney's Co-Op. She tried on lots of dresses looking for one for Rob's wedding but didn't feel like Richmond, Va (and her mother) would be ready for the plunging necklines and funky patterns we found. Later on in the day, Ellen went out on her own to H&M and tried on clothes until she got stuck in a dress and had to Houdini her way out of it.
